About RailPassMath
RailPassMath answers one practical question for rail travellers: is this pass worth it for your trip, or do ordinary tickets or a discount card cost less?
What this site is
RailPassMath is an independent website based in Switzerland. It is not run by a railway, a tourist board, a pass seller or a travel agency. We cover rail passes country by country, starting with Switzerland. The guides start from questions travellers really ask, such as "Is the Swiss Travel Pass worth it for 4 days?" or "What does Jungfraujoch cost with my pass?". They answer them with real fares from the official ticket shops, not rules of thumb.
We add a new country only when its fares can be checked against official sources. Until then, we would rather publish nothing than guess.
How the content is made
- AI-assisted drafting. We use AI tools to help with structure and first drafts. Every page is then rewritten and edited before it is published.
- Facts checked against official sources. Every price, rule and condition is checked against the official operator pages. For Switzerland these are SBB, Rhaetian Railway, Glacier Express, Switzerland Tourism (MySwitzerland), Swiss Travel System, Jungfrau Railways, Rigi Railways and others. Anything we cannot confirm is left out.
- Dated prices. Every page with prices shows the date they were last checked, plus a list of the source pages. Fares usually change once a year (in Switzerland in December, with the new timetable), so we re-check every page at least that often.
- One price file per country. Each country's calculator and worked examples read from a single price file, so the numbers on different pages always match.

Independence
We are not affiliated with any railway, tourist board, pass seller or tour company. The site is non-commercial: it shows no ads and contains no affiliate links (see the affiliate disclosure). The cheapest sensible option for your trip is the answer, whoever sells it.
