How we check prices

The same rules apply to every country we cover.

  1. Official sources only. Pass prices come from the railway or the official pass issuer. Route fares come from the railway's own timetable and ticket shop. Mountain railway and excursion prices come from the operator itself. We do not copy prices from other blogs or from resellers. For Switzerland, for example, that means SBB and Switzerland Tourism for passes, the SBB ticket shop for route fares, and operators such as Jungfrau Railways or Rigi Railways for excursions.
  2. Exact conditions. Each fare records its date, class and type (for example full fare, discount-card price, flexible or saver ticket, season). Where saver fares change from train to train, we use the flexible fare and say so.
  3. A fact-check log. For every article we keep a log that lists each claim with its source URL. If we cannot confirm a claim, we remove it.
  4. Dates on every page. Pages with prices show when they were last checked. We re-check after each annual fare change (in Switzerland, the December timetable change), and sooner if a reader reports a change.
  5. Human editing. AI tools may help with structure, but a person writes and edits the final text and checks the maths.
