Swiss Travel Pass vs Half Fare Card calculator

Prices last checked: · Pass prices are valid until 31 Dec 2026

Add the journeys you plan to make, or a rough total, and the calculator prices the same trip six ways: full-fare tickets, Swiss Half Fare Card, Swiss Travel Pass, Swiss Travel Pass Flex, and Saver Day Passes with or without the Half Fare Card.

1. Traveller

Children aged 6–15 travel free with a parent who holds any of these passes or the Half Fare Card, using the free Swiss Family Card. Children under 6 always travel free. So price the trip for the adults only.

2. Your journeys

Add each one-way journey and the day of your trip it falls on (Day 1 = first day you travel). Fares are flexible point-to-point fares from the SBB shop. For a route not in the list, choose "Other" and type its full fare from sbb.ch.

3. Mountain excursions

Check the operator's site for the exact pass discount on other mountains. "Up to 50%" is common, but it is not universal: Jungfraujoch is only about 25% off with the pass.

4. Saver Day Pass prices

Saver Day Passes are sold only in advance (1 day to 6 months ahead), in limited numbers, and are rarely refundable. Prices change with demand.

How the calculator works

Things the calculator ignores: seat reservations on panorama trains (Glacier Express, Bernina Express and others; no pass covers them, see what they cost), luggage forwarding (prices), the free museum entry that comes with the Swiss Travel Pass, and Supersaver tickets, which can undercut full fares on specific trains.
