Pilatus, Rigi and Titlis: what each mountain costs with your pass

Prices last checked: · Prices from Pilatus Railways, Rigi Railways, TITLIS Cableways, the Lucerne Travel Pass and SBB

Short answer: With a Swiss Travel Pass, Rigi is free, while Pilatus (Golden Round Trip CHF 42) and Titlis (CHF 51 return from Engelberg) cost half. The Half Fare Card gives 50% off all three. If Lucerne is your only base and you go up all three mountains in summer, the regional Lucerne Travel Pass (CHF 240 for 3 days) is the cheapest option in our example. If you already have a Swiss Travel Pass or Half Fare Card for the rest of your trip, it is not worth adding.

Which is cheapest for 3 days in Lucerne?

Example: one mountain per day from Lucerne, adult, 2nd class, in summer. Day 1: Pilatus Golden Round Trip. Day 2: Rigi via Arth-Goldau (train return CHF 27.20). Day 3: Titlis via Engelberg (train return CHF 36.40), without the Ice Flyer.

Lucerne Travel Pass 3 daysCHF 240CHF 294
Our arithmetic from the prices above. The Zurich column assumes the arrival and departure fall on two of the three pass days (for the Swiss Travel Pass) and uses the flexible SBB fare Zürich HB – Luzern of CHF 27 each way. *Only if you travel to and from Zurich on activated Flex days.

If you already have a card for the rest of your trip, only the extra cost counts. With a Swiss Travel Pass the three mountains add just CHF 93. With a Half Fare Card they add CHF 184.70. Both are less than the CHF 240 of a Lucerne Travel Pass, so do not buy one on top.

In winter Pilatus is cheaper (CHF 69.60 from Lucerne), and the three mountains cost CHF 319.20 with no card, CHF 309.60 with a new Half Fare Card or CHF 335 with a 3-day Swiss Travel Pass. They are almost level, so the rest of your trip decides. Feed your full itinerary into the calculator and add the mountains as extra excursions.
