Interrail / Eurail pass calculator
List the journeys you plan, with the fare each one would cost as a normal ticket and the type of train. The calculator prices the trip with tickets, with the cheapest Global Pass, with the Global Plus Pass (reservations mostly included) and with a One Country Pass where all the journeys are in one country. It leaves journeys off the pass when buying them is cheaper than spending a travel day on them.
How the calculator counts
- Travel days: every date with at least one journey on the pass uses a travel day. A direct night train only uses the day it leaves, so enter it on its departure day.
- Leaving journeys off the pass: for Flexi passes the calculator puts on the pass the days where the pass saves the most (ticket fares minus reservation fees) and prices the rest as tickets. It tries every Flexi and Continuous Global Pass and shows the cheapest that fits your dates: 4, 5 or 7 travel days within one month, 10 or 15 within two months, or 15 days to 3 months in a row.
- Reservations: added for every journey on a standard pass. Where Interrail gives a range we use the top of it (for example €20 for a domestic TGV), so the pass is not flattered. Night-train beds are dynamic: edit the fee to the price you see.
- Global Plus Pass: sold only as 5 or 7 travel days within one month. Trains marked "no credits" in Interrail's Plus table (Trenitalia, Renfe, DB, ÖBB, SBB and others) are free to reserve; Eurostar, TGV Lyria, ICE France–Germany, EuroCity Switzerland–Italy and SNCF trains use one of its 3 credits (we assume one even where Interrail says "0 or 1"). After that you pay. Beds on night trains are never included.
- Home country: if you live in a pass country, only your first and last journeys flagged "home" can go on a Global Pass (Interrail's outbound and inbound journeys); others are priced as tickets. You cannot use the One Country Pass of your own country, and only European residents can use the Switzerland Pass.
- Not counted: city transport, the few supplements outside the reservation table (for example Brussels Airport), and pass benefits such as ferry or mountain-railway discounts.
Background: Is an Interrail pass worth it? and which trains need reservations.
